SOAP Trigger Notification Server DVTNS

Databases frequently need to send notifications to interested parties upon certain events, also called triggers. Such events may be caused by updates to specific objects or attributes, unauthorized access or exceeded thresholds. However, the database itself needs to serve it's clients immediately, therefore it cannot be given the responsibility for the reliable delivery of such notifications. This is the task of a notification server. It acts very much like a post office: You drop a message and can be sure that it will reach the intended destination(s).

Our product DVTNS stands for Distributed Virtual Transaction Notification Server. It receives SOAP / HTTP requests on its inbound interfaces and transfers them after initial syntax and integrity check to its internal persistent storage. The sender gets an immediate response (if wanted) and can go on with its client serving business. The notification server is now responsible for the communication with the final recipients. This includes request queuing, retry and error handling to ensure safe delivery. Messages are only removed from the internal queues when they were successfully delivered.

DVTNS is based on the same high performance framework as our database server. As such it offers the same features for 24/7 operation, online configurability, speed and scalability. In particular it features the same hybrid storage technology offering almost infinite queuing capacity.
